Welcome to Ocean Beach
Ocean Beach, referred to as “O.B.”, is an eccentric beach town with a 1970’s feel. Ocean Beach lies at the end of I-8, which makes the town easily accessible for residents and visitors. The main street of Ocean Beach, Newport Avenue, is filled with many unique shops, delicious eateries, tattoo parlors, dive bars, local surf shops, small charming hotels, and much more. A popular landmark is the Ocean Beach Pier, which extends 2,000 feet across the water.
Ocean Beach hosts many residences with limited space to grow. Cottages, bungalows, and apartments are common architecture styles around OB. Popular among students and surfers, you can also find families residing in this area. Real estate in OB extends to other neighboring areas like Point Loma.
Point Loma is uniquely located on a peninsula on top of a hill. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the San Diego Bay, Point Loma offers spectacular views and easy water access to residents. The Old Point Loma Lighthouse is Point Loma's most famous landmark. Often times, the lighthouse is even used to represent all of San Diego. Built in 1855, the lighthouse marks the entry point to the San Diego Bay. Another notable and famous feature of Point Loma is the looming sandstone cliff that lines the oceanside shores of Point Loma. The cliffs, called Sunset Cliffs, contain fossils that are said to date back 75 million years ago. The cliffs, looming up to heights of 400 feet, are constantly eroding from the waves that crash into them.
Point Loma and Sunset Cliffs are both upscale neighborhoods with a mix of single family homes, townhomes, and condos. Many homes in Point Loma offer amazing views of the bay and downtown. Homes in Sunset Cliffs offer stunning views of the ocean.
