Rancho Santa Fe exemplifies the finest in Southern California living. Boasting one of the most exclusive and affluent zip codes in the nation, “The Ranch” offers an unbeatable, relaxed lifestyle from world-class golf courses to miles of equestrian and shaded hiking trails. Just a few miles from the coast, Rancho Santa Fe’s gently rolling hills are home to some of the most impressive and expansive estates in Southern California with land parcels running from 2 to 4 acres.

Originally part of the Rancho San Dieguito land grant, in 1906 the Santa Fe Railway purchased the entire land to plant eucalyptus trees for railroad ties. When the eucalyptus wood proved unsuitable, the company formed the Santa Fe Land Improvement Company to develop a planned community of country estates in the Spanish and Rancho Revival architectural style.

At the heart of Rancho Santa Fe is The Covenant, declared the nation’s wealthiest community in the 2000 census. The name “Covenant” came about in 1927 when a group of property owners entered into a mutual agreement to preserve and maintain the character of the community. The Rancho Santa Fe Association continues today insuring the thematic unity of architectural design and upholding a commitment to preserve the area’s “ranch” feel.

The Covenant is home to the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, a gorgeous 6,700-yard, par 72 golf course, and the Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club with ten hard courts and two Har-Tru clay courts. The Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe also has access to a riding club, garden club, community center, art guild, library guild, book club, and 50 miles of horse trails which weave throughout the rolling hills of the community. The centerpiece of the Covenant is The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe designed by eco-conscious, early 20th-century American architect Lilian Rice. The focal point of activity in the Covenant is the Village, where businesses, shops and restaurants dot the few blocks of commercially zoned property.

Today, Rancho Santa Fe has a population of about 3,100 in a variety of subdivisions with a median home cost of $1,598,100 and a 2012 home appreciation rate of 2.26%. Rancho Santa Fe is primarily residential with homes set back from the roads that wind around the town. Rancho Santa Fe has several top-notch public and private schools.

With timeless style the affluent community of Rancho Santa Fe has come to symbolize the epitome of luxury. From scenic mountain vistas to panoramic ocean views, rural character and classic charm come together offering an exquisite Southern California lifestyle.
